Introduction
Clover Seeds Co. Ltd was founded in Hong Kong in 1929. We have been running a business of exporting and importing quality flower and vegetable seeds in the region for over 75 years. The Seed Production Department was established in 1986 to provide contract production of vegetable and flower seeds for overseas companies in China. Our customers are major seed breeding companies from all over the world. We are experienced on producing a wide range of quality vegetable and flowers seeds.
Production Locations
In China, Clover Seeds has established three main production bases where locate between latitude 40 degrees N and latitude 25 degrees N. This great range of latitude provides diverse climatic and geographical environments which allow us to produce a wide range of crops. We are still continuing to explore new & ideal production locations to cope with the increasing demand for quality seeds.
1. Jiuquan (39.44 N, 98.30 E, altitude 1477 meters)
Jiuquan is a very important seed production center in Northwest China Gansu Province which is located at 92.13-108.46 E and 32.31-42.57 N. Jiuquan has a dry climate with plenty of sunshine, strong radiation and a big difference in diurnal. The annual average temperature and rainfall is 8.5 0C and 85 mm respectively. Melting snows from the Qulian Mountain provide continuous clean water for irrigation. The very dry summer offers ideal and reliable conditions for producing high-quality and disease-free seeds of wide range of crops such as squash, watermelon, tomato, pepper, lettuce, garland, coriander, radish, brassicas etc. On the other hand, the inland severe winter provide a good environment for those biennial crops such as carrot, celery, leek, beet and onion which require very deep vernalisation for even bolting.
2. Luoyang (34.43 N, 112.26 E, altitude 353 meters)
Luoyang is situated in Central China Henan Province with latitude at 110°21′—116°39′E and 31°23′—36°22’N. Locating in a continental warm temperate zone, Luoyang has a hot summer with abundant of sunshine and moderate rainfall. The annual average temperature and rainfall is 14.2 0C and 645 mm respectively. The climate is favoured for seed production of all kind of gourds including cucumber, wax gourd, ridge gourd, bottle gourd & bitter gourd etc. The area is also suitable for tomato, pepper and eggplant seed production that are harvested around mid-summer, and consequently offers early delivery opportunities.
3. Kunming (25.03 N, 102.42 E, altitude 1891 meters)
Kunming is a capital of Southwest China Yunnan Province where has a diverse climate, embracing temperate, tropical and frigid zones in one province. As most parts of Yunnan are about 2,000 meters above sea level, the weather is favourable throughout the year, cool in summer and warm in winter. Locating in the low latitudes, Yunnan Province receives plenty of sunshine all the year round. It has little difference in the seasonal temperature but considerable difference of temperature within a day. Though an annual rainfall of above 1,100 mm pours on most of Yunnan, it is unevenly distributed in different places as well as in different seasons. The relatively mild and dry winter is ideal for a biennial seed production of many crops including brassicas (such as broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, chinese cabbage etc.), broad beans, peas etc. On the other hand, the summer is not only suitable for growing vegetables like different kinds of Cucurbits but also for a wide range of flower seed production.
4. Kazuo (40.40 N, 120.00 E)
Kazou locates in north-east Liaoning Province. As most parts of the place belong to hilly area, the climate is very nice in summer with medium rainfall and plenty of sunshine. The place is particular famous on green-house cultivation and production, which enable faster plant growth, lower disease infection and therefore guarantee seed harvest with good yield and quality. The place is ideal for F1 tomato, F1 Chili, F1 Eggplant, F1 Cucumbers and all other cucurbits.
Seed Processing and Delivery
Prior to delivery, all the seeds harvested pass through a series of well-controlled and strict processing steps in order to assure and attain high-quality seeds. These include fruits sorting, seed extraction, seed cleaning and grading, and seed drying which are carried out by our well-trained technicians and specialized equipments. Germination and purity tests will be conducted according to ISTA protocols and rules. In addition, seed treatment with chemicals for disease control can be offered upon requested. Finally, high-quality seeds will be delivered to our customers on time.
